The PS42 8RB is an interesting, and mostly successful, debut. Looking beyond its polarizing design, this 14-inch machine is one of the most compact devices you can purchase with a dedicated GPU. It has an excellent range of ports for business professionals, and the display is both sharp and vivid. But for $1,300, you can do better. Short battery life, poor speakers and a dismal webcam make it difficult for us to recommend the PS42 ahead of other ultrabooks at this price....

The prospect of an easily replaceable SSD seemed like a huge score for prospective Surface owners. That was until the folks at Windows Central read the fine print. It turns out, Microsoft says that (however easy it may have looked on stage) the SSDs in the Surface Laptop 3 and Surface Pro X are “not user-removable” and that you need a “skilled technician” to do so. By “skilled technician” we suspect Microsoft means the folks wearing blue shirts at the Microsoft Store....
No, you won’t get every single imaginable bell and whistle at that price. The EON15-X is not the most excitingly designed gaming PC out there, there’s no option for a 4K screen, the audio is a bit iffy, and the battery life is blink-and-you’ll-miss-it bad. But it’s packed with quality hardware that enables top-tier performance, which is all you need, and most of what you want, in a laptop like this....
Most of the things we loved about the pricier model found their way to this base edition, including the Blade 15’s attractive, unibody aluminum design and long battery life. Performance is also great despite the lesser GPU, and you even get an Ethernet port on the cheaper model.
