The Razer Blade 17 does offer strong performance (via an Intel Core i7-12800H CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU), a great set of speakers, a comfortable keyboard, and enough battery life to get you through two viewings of The Batman. All of that might be worth its frustrating $4,000 price tag. However, a display so dim that it belongs on a Chromebook is a sore spot. I wouldn’t advocate for the Razer Blade 17 to show up on our best gaming laptops or the best Razer laptops page, but it’s still a solid piece of gaming hardware if you’re rolling in dough and consider opting for a different display....
But take heart Razer fans, the Blade Pro is back and has quite a few new tricks up its sleeve. Available in May, starting at $2,499, the 17-inch, now called the Blade Pro 17, is packing one of Intel’s new 9th Gen processors, a Nvidia RTX GPU and a 1920 x 1080 display with a 144-Hertz refresh rate. When we ran Geekbench 4, a synthetic test that measures overall performance, on a Swift 3 with an 8th Gen Core i5-8250U CPU, the laptop scored an impressive 12,755, which is 5,513 points or 76 percent higher than a Swift 3 with a Core i5-7200U CPU that we tested in July . Both the versions of the Swift 3 had 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. Aside from the CPU, the only difference between the two laptops was that the 7th Gen Core model had a 14-inch screen and the 8th Gen system had a 15-inch display (both screens were 1080p)....
Microsoft’s been working to make its Mixed Reality (MR) tech a whole lot more feasible for consumers, and that may be what the Fall Creators Update becomes famous for. I say may because we haven’t been able to test it out with any MR headsets at Laptop HQ yet, only see it in demos at events.
