Abbott Elementary is an Emmy Award-winning, feel-good comedy and fly-on-the-wall mockumentary following the teachers of a Philadelphia public school who are lacking in funds, but rich in dedication to their students. Despite the school district’s unenthusiastic attitude toward educating children, Abbott’s teachers work their “class” off to help their students succeed. The first season of Abbott Elementary was a runaway success for ABC, attracting up to 3.5 million viewers per episode and proving itself a smash hit with critics....

The highlight, however, remains the sleek aluminum design, which finds a nice balance of form and function. The latter is achieved by offering USB Type-A and Type-C ports, along with a comfortable keyboard and an excellent 1080p display. HP put so much effort into making this mid-range laptop feel like a flagship device that the decision to use a plastic touchpad is confusing. It’s a frustrating cost-cutting measure, but not a deal-breaker when the Envy does so many things right at an agreeable price....

By removing iTunes, Catalina also dropped XML file support so that all music could shift over to the Apple Music app, which uses a new file format. That’s a big problem for DJs who have been using iTunes, and its XML files, for the past few decades to mix songs. Popular apps for DJs, including Rekordbox and Traktor that only work with XML files, can’t operate in macOS Catalina. Apple acknowledged this limitation and told The Verge that if a Mac user needs XML files for DJing, they should avoid updating to Catalina and continue to use macOS Mojave until app developers update their service to support the new file format....

There’s a ton of upgrades here, but the new iPad Pro still isn’t quite a laptop killer. Apple’s new tablet starts with a 10.5-inch iPad Retina display that’s 20 percent bigger than the the screen on the 9.7-inch iPad. Apple did this by reducing the borders by 40 percent. The new Retina display is super bright at 600 nits and it supports a wider color gamut, which means it will support HDR content....
